HOURS after some groups of militant threatened to resume hostilities in the Niger Delta region, some suspected militants on Monday attacked an army formation at Opuama community of Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State leaving one of the soldiers critically injured. The incident it was gathered occurred at the Opuma Zion junction along the Omojo creek of the area and has sent tension down the spines of locals in the area over fears that the military would invade their community in a manhunt for the suspected militant. RIP! Yoruba Actor Olumide Bakare Is Dead

Veteran actor Olumide Bakare is dead. The actor passed on in the early hours of today according to his personal assistant. “His situation however gone bad during the procedure and he could not make it. So he died,” a close family source Abiodun Alarape said. Bakare, it was learnt, was rushed to UCH on January 24, after suffering cardiac arrest. His condition was however said to have improved, until he went in for the procedure and failed to make it out alive. His death came as a shock to his numerous fans. May His Soul Rest In Peace.

Nigerians Can Now Get UK Visa Same Day Of Application – UK Embassy

The British government has announced a special service for Nigerians which enables them to get their UK visa on the same day of application. British High Commissioner, Mr. Paul Arkwright disclosed this at the 40th anniversary of Nigerian British Chamber of Commerce, NBCC, in Lagos. Mr Arkwright while speaking at the event on Monday said the British embassy has made provision for visa applicants in Nigeria to get their visa on the same day or within five days of application. He noted that the embassy as part of its special services has reduced the maximum turnaround time for all classes of visa application to 15 days. “We have introduced a same day visa service – at a cost – for visas in Nigeria. “We have also introduced a service that means you get a visa within five days, at a lower cost than the same day process. “Our turnaround time for all other visas is 15 days. 25yrs Old Nigerian Convicted In US For Wire Fraud

A United States Federal court has convicted a Nigerian, Wiseman Oputa, who set up a number of bank accounts with bogus passports over a year, in which he managed to steal at least $500,000 through wire fraud and Internet scams. The court convicted Oputa of one count of wire fraud, the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of Texas announced. Wiseman Oputa, 25, pleaded guilty to opening bank accounts in the area surrounding Houston, using counterfeit passports. Once the accounts were created, Oputa and his associates conducted a number of Internet scams from romance schemes to hacking into company email accounts to make their phishing efforts appear more real. The victims sent at least a total of $500,000 to these bank accounts via checks and wire transfers, which Oputa and his associates controlled. He would then use the bogus passports to withdraw the money from the accounts. Oputa is scheduled to be sentenced on July 6 and faces up to 20 years in federal prison ...

mNollywood actor and S.A. to Ebonyi universal Basic Education Board (UBEB) Chairman, Mac Donald Oti, was on Saturday kidnapped, robbed and dumped in a forest in Ebonyi State. He was grabbed alongside with his wife at about 8:25pm at gun point. The kidnappers were said to have dump him and left with his car, phone and other valuables which include a camera tripod he went to collect from a transit before the incident.
