HOURS after some groups of militant threatened to resume hostilities in the Niger Delta region, some suspected militants on Monday attacked an army formation at Opuama community of Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State leaving one of the soldiers critically injured. The incident it was gathered occurred at the Opuma Zion junction along the Omojo creek of the area and has sent tension down the spines of locals in the area over fears that the military would invade their community in a manhunt for the suspected militant. State chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and some national officers yesterday registered their disappointment with the national leadership of the party over the inability of President Muhammadu Buhari to reward party members, New Telegraph reports. The report revealed that party officials are angry that members who worked for APC’s victory in the 2015 general elections have been neglected almost two years after the polls. The state chapter of Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG) criticized Fayose for “bringing governance to a ridiculous level and assaulting the sensibilities of the Yoruba nation” by Tuesday’s gesture. Veteran actor Olumide Bakare is dead. The actor passed on in the early hours of today according to his personal assistant. “His situation however gone bad during the procedure and he could not make it. So he died,” a close family source Abiodun Alarape said. Bakare, it was learnt, was rushed to UCH on January 24, after suffering cardiac arrest.
